Your builder has gone bust, here's how Patterson Construction helps you finish your home
You planned your home. You signed the contracts. Work began, and then it stopped. If your builder has gone into liquidation, been deregistered, or simply abandoned your site, you're not alone. This is an increasingly common situation in Western Australia and it's one Patterson Construction has helped many families navigate. Here's exactly what happens when you call us.
The first thing we do is visit your site. Before anything else we come out for a no-obligation assessment, we look at what's been done, what's been done correctly, and what the realistic path to completion looks like. We help secure the build if needed and give you a clear, honest picture of where things stand before any money or decisions are involved.
We'll then guide you through your Home Indemnity Insurance. If your building contract was valued over $20,000 in WA your builder was required to provide HII which protects you if they become insolvent, disappear, or pass away during construction. We'll help you locate your certificate of insurance, contact your insurer, and navigate the claims process. HII can cover the cost of completing the remaining build, rectification of defective work, and reimbursement for incomplete works already paid for.
We'll need your documentation. To provide a detailed and accurate recovery plan we'll ask for your signed building contract, all variations and approvals, invoices and proof of payment, council permits, correspondence with the previous builder, and your construction drawings. The more of this you can gather the smoother the process will be, and we'll tell you exactly what's most important if you're missing anything.
A structural inspection may be recommended depending on the stage of your build. If needed we can connect you with trusted licensed engineers who work regularly on Perth takeover projects. They'll identify any safety concerns, non-compliant work, and what rectification is required before moving forward.
Once we've assessed everything our team will produce a clear timeline and budget, a transparent and realistic completion quote, and a plan that gets your home finished to the highest standard. You'll be assigned a Journey Coordinator who becomes your single point of contact throughout, keeping you informed, answering your questions, and making sure you never feel like you're navigating this alone.
At the end of your build you'll walk through your completed home with our team in a Practical Completion Inspection. We go through every room and every detail together. We don't consider the job finished until you're completely satisfied with the result.
If your build has collapsed and your home is sitting unfinished, call Lucas. We'll come out, assess the situation honestly, and tell you exactly what's possible. No obligation. No pressure. Just a genuine conversation about getting your home, and your life, back on track.
